When you feel your best, you’re ready for anything. But what about when you’re feeling under the weather? How can you perform at work and at home if you’re not operating at peak condition?
If you’ve been feeling anxious, foggy, and “out of it” recently, then the problem may stem from something you hadn’t even considered: your hormones. Your hormones play an incredibly important part in your body’s everyday functionality.
So when you have a hormone imbalance, you’ll certainly notice, and you’ll certainly need some help. Come to Polaris Vein & Aesthetics and learn about your options for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy near Dublin, OH.
The Symptoms of a Hormone Imbalance
A hormone imbalance is usually less obvious than some other wellness conditions, as the symptoms could result from other things. But if you have many of the following symptoms (or just one, but you can’t identify its cause), then you may have a hormone imbalance.
Brain Fog
Brain fog isn’t an official medical term, but everyone has experienced it at one point or another. Usually, “brain fog” refers to a group of symptoms, like confusion, lack of focus, fatigue, forgetfulness, and other cognitive struggles.
You try to focus during that important meeting, but your mind just seems to wander. You walk across the apartment towards something, but then can’t remember what you were looking for! A hormone imbalance can “fog” up your mental processes, leaving you feeling confused and sluggish.
Weight Gain
Hormonal balance can be an important part of your weight management journey. If you’ve maintained a steady exercise program and prioritized clean eating, but you still haven’t lost those stubborn pounds, a hormone imbalance could be to blame.
Unexplained weight gain is a common symptom of a hormone imbalance. Among other things, your hormones help regulate your digestive system. They carry signals from your brain to your stomach, creating a hunger response. If your hunger response triggers even when you’ve had enough to eat, this can lead to weight gain.
Acne
Hormones may increase oil production or cause acne to form. Have you noticed a sudden decrease in your skin quality? A hormone imbalance may be to blame! To clear up skin concerns without skincare medication, try bioidentical hormone replacement therapy near Dublin, OH.
Fatigue
Everyone has days when they can’t seem to keep their eyes open, but if those days seem more common than usual, come in for a hormone screening. Fatigue is a common indicator of a hormone imbalance, and we can get you moving again.
Low Libido
Hormones affect many facets of our lives, and that includes our sex drives. Hormones keep our libidos active, so if you’ve noticed a change in your typical bedroom habits, it could be another sign of a hormonal imbalance. Don’t let a hormone imbalance affect your sex life—talk with our team.
The Power of Bioidentical Hormone Therapy
Our hormone solutions are different from the rest, and that’s what makes them the best. Our hormones are bioidentical, which means they’re the exact same as the ones your body naturally produces, so you don’t have to worry about a strange reaction to your treatment.
These natural, supplemental hormones are chemically similar to the hormones your body produces, so your body can absorb and use these new hormones more easily. They work like a lock and key. We want to make sure the treatment process is as smooth and convenient as possible, and BHRT gives you options to feel like yourself again.
Meeting with Our Team
One of the most important parts of the treatment process at our clinic is personalization. You deserve a custom care plan, not a cookie-cutter treatment.
We recognize the individuality of each patient, and as a result, we know that what works for one person may not work for another. When you work with us, we build each treatment from the ground up based on your unique symptoms and goals.
You don’t have to worry about receiving care that isn’t targeting your specific needs. We can even recommend other treatments to pair to help you see the best results from your care. Let us know if we can improve any part of the hormone therapy process at Polaris Vein & Aesthetics.
Our Preferred Treatment Method
At Polaris Vein & Aesthetics, we prefer hormone pellets for BHRT. Hormone pellets are bioidentical hormones compounded down into a pellet that we insert right under skin, in the fatty tissue just above or below the waistline.
These pellets provide you with the hormones you need, like estrogen or testosterone. Think of hormones like fuel, and the cells like an engine. We want to make sure your cells are working as they should, so you can go about your day feeling your best.
Pellets slowly release their hormones over a period of 3 to 6 months, keeping your hormones the optimal levels 24/7. Patients won’t have to perform any upkeep during these months—they can simply live as usual while the pellets rebalance their deficient hormones.
We optimize the dosage of your bioidentical hormone pellets based on your age, weight, blood labs, and activity levels, so they work better than over-the-counter options. And because they release hormones consistently, you won’t have to worry about the ups and downs that come with many alternative hormone therapies like creams, patches, and injections.
What to Expect
When you come in for your pellet procedure, we’ll review your lab results, medical history, and your symptoms. We’ll also account for your activity levels, age, and other factors. Once the initial evaluation is complete, we’ll input data into our dosing site to receive a custom dose. It will also tell us whether you could benefit from thyroid medication, melatonin, peptides, and more.
Many patients prefer pellets for hormone replacement because they require less effort and almost no maintenance. To receive hormone pellets, patients come in on the day of their appointment, check in, and come back to the treatment room.
A member of our team will then numb the treatment area with lidocaine and make a small incision in the hip/buttock area. Next, we’ll insert the pellet (about the size of a grain of rice) beneath the skin. This process should only take about 5 minutes for women and 10 minutes for men.
Recovering After Your Treatment
After your treatment, we’ll give you some recommendations to help ensure you heal without interruption. First, it’s important that you don’t soak in a hot tub, bathtub or pool for 3 days if you’re a woman, or 5 days if you’re a male. This prevents the risk of infection.
You’ll notice 2 bandages on the insertion site. The first goes directly on skin to keep the incision closed while it heals, and the other is a gauze pressure bandage, which you should keep on for 24 hours.
You should also refrain from working out for 3 days if you’re female and 5 days if you’re a male. This is especially true for mountain biking, horseback riding, anything else that could cause muscles around buttocks to flex, as this could interrupt the healing process and cause the extrusion of your pellets.
Contact us if you notice redness, tenderness, warmth swelling, or oozing in the incision site.
To maintain your results, it’s important to prioritize balanced nutrition, and we may recommend supplements if you need some extra help.
Some common supplements we recommend include:
- ADK 10 for vitamin D
- Active ND 50 as a probiotic for gut health
- HRT Complete (T & E) to maintain hormonal balance
If you want to learn more about these supplements and how to recover following your pellet procedure, watch our videos on our post-care recommendations.
How Long You Need to Wait
If you’re coming to our clinic looking for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy near Dublin, OH, you likely want to see results as soon as possible. Fortunately, your pellets or supplements start restoring hormones as soon as you begin using them.
The exact timing of the effects varies based on your unique biology and exact deficiencies. Some patients notice the effects of their treatment after just a few days, while others may after a few weeks. But no matter when you notice the benefits, those results will only continue to improve the longer you maintain your therapy.
Many people experience the height of their results after about 3 months, but this varies between patients, too. To maintain the improvements to your hormones indefinitely, schedule ongoing treatments with our team.
We want you to feel your best as long as possible, so we can make recommendations on the best methods for maintaining or enhancing your hormone results.
